Island in a Puddle

Island in a Puddle by Kei Sanbe (Kodansha) is a haunting fantasy drama about two abandoned siblings. Elementary schooler Minato looks after his little sister Nagisa in their cramped apartment, while their mother hardly ever comes home. On a rare trip to an amusement park, she hands Minato some cash and leaves the two of them alone on a Ferris wheel. Then lightning strikes their car at the very top, and when Minato wakes up, nothing is quite what he expected.
