Description

Descending Stories Vol 5 by Haruko Kumota. A Drama manga rated Older Teen. English edition, published by Kodansha in 2018. Used copy.

Fresh out of prison with nothing to his name, a hapless young man sets his heart on rakugo, Japan's art of comic storytelling, after seeing the great master Yakumo Yurakutei VIII perform. Yakumo never takes apprentices, but he takes this one, nicknaming him Yotaro, "the fool." Something about Yotaro reminds the old master of someone from his own past. A rich, adult drama about love, art and storytelling across generations.
